Monument to Victims of Communism in Ottawa

The Canadian Polish Congress challenges Polonia to raise funds for the construction of the Monument to Victims of Communism in Ottawa.

As a community we have all been affected by the destruction and demoralization of the Communist system that enslaved Poland for more than 45 years. The Monument to Victims of Communism in our nation’s capital will ensure that Canadians will not forget the devastation that this system brought upon all nations that were under its occupation, as well as those who continue to suffer, such as the people of Cuba, North Korea, and China. It will also serve as a gathering place for all Canadians on days commemorating Communist atrocities, such as Katyn Memorial Day.

We know that Poland's history was forever altered by the oppression suffered under Communism and many in our community originally came to Canada to escape it.

This is why the Canadian Polish Congress challenges every Polonia organization to donate at least $100.00 in support of this extraordinary cause (in most cases this is only $2-$3 per member). We also ask Polonia at large to join in this campaign. Along with $100.00 you are invited to include a personal story about how you, your family or friends were affected by Communism. These stories will be posted on the "Pathway" section of the Tribute To Liberty websitewww.tributetoliberty.ca

Together with all of the communities that have been oppressed by Communism, we can help to make this monument a reality and immortalize those who gave their lives, lost their homelands, and suffered physically and psychologically as a result of the scourge of Communism.

Personal donation cheques over $20.00 are eligible for a tax donation slip.

Please make cheques out to "Tribute To Liberty"

All cheques should be payable to ‘Tribute to Liberty’ and mailed, along with stories, to:
