SENIORS’ SERVICES DIRECTORY INFORMATION

Welcome all Polish seniors to the KPKZG (Canadian Polish Congress ZG) website.

The Seniors Committee at KPKZG in Toronto has as its goal, the orientation of seniors and their families to the details and locations of programs of nursing homes and other seniors’ organizations as shown below.

Each interested person or family member can get the information they need here or they can get an indication of where to look for the information when the need arises. Currently the Internet is the best way to search for information, provided that you know how and where to look.

Our website has comprehensive information about the services for seniors or relative matters regarding seniors. Subjects include nursing homes, senior citizens clubs, rest homes, as well as all the amenities under the provisions of the Provincial and Federal Government in this regard.

Those interested in old age homes or residences, should consult the website of CCAC (http://healthcareathome.ca). To locate the old age home in a particular area all you need to do is to type in the appropriate field your zip code. (Information on the site is also available in Polish).

Not many Polish nursing homes exist but those that are multicultural provide support for Polish seniors. KPK also provides information of other Polish organizations in the Montreal, Ottawa, Hamilton, Calgary, Winnipeg and Sudbury area, where Polish clubs and nursing homes exist.

The Seniors Secretariat of the Government of the Province of Ontario issued a guide in Polish (information programs and services for seniors). You can get acquainted with its content online at the website: http://www.ontario.ca/seniors or by phone: free seniors Infoline (888-910-1999).

PURPOSE

To collect data about senior homes, programs and services in order to provide assistance to the general public, seniors and families of seniors. To increase awareness about a variety of services and programs available in the community. The main focus is on services and programs offered in the Polish language in the Province in Ontario. However, we have circulated a survey to CPC offices in other provinces and the information received from the Montreal, Ottawa, Hamilton, Winnipeg, Calgary and Edmonton offices was included. It is by no means complete. The idea is to continue updating the website with fresh and relevant links.

To use this directory you need to click on various directory links: first choose the category you are interested in and then choose the program or service or organization you want to know about.

Category links represent general information from government contacts, health care services, polish senior homes, polish parishes, polish clubs, other relevant polish organizations, transportation services, food resources, legal and financial services, safety and security tips, emergency contacts, and critical information for seniors like government drug plans. All category links are listed in the right pane for the entire website directory.
