The Canadian Polish Congress joins with fellow Canadians in mourning the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen of Canada.

The Queen’s long reign was historic, and her passing represents the end of an era. During her long life, she witnessed Britain’s entry into the Second World War in response to the invasion of Poland by Nazi Germany, the subsequent Cold War, and the rebirth of a free and independent Poland in 1989. She even had Polish roots in her family tree.

As Polish Canadians, we will always be grateful for her recognition of the heroic efforts of Polish pilots during the Battle of Britain, many of whom settled in Canada following the end of the War.

Her Majesty will be dearly missed by Canadians, the people of the United Kingdom, the Commonwealth and the whole world.

Long Live His Majesty King Charles III, King of Canada!
