“The Canadian Polish Congress welcomes the Government of Canada’s latest announcement of a series of adjustments to current border measures, representing the beginning of a phased easing of travel restrictions.

However, we remain concerned about the impacts of public health measures that remain in place; namely those that restrict outbound airline travel to fully vaccinated travelers. These restrictions have resulted in many Polish-Canadians being prohibited from relocating, or even travelling to Poland for emergency reasons.

Given the decision to adjust Canada’s Travel Health Notice from Level 3 to Level 2 effective February 28, 2022, we call on the Government of Canada to reconsider these restrictions as soon as possible, and to develop a path that will allow all Canadians, regardless of vaccination status, to travel freely.

In the interim, we encourage the Government to consider an extension of existing transitional measures, which are set to expire on February 28, that allow unvaccinated foreign nationals who normally reside outside of Canada to take a flight for the purpose of departing Canada if they show proof of a valid COVID-19 molecular test at the time of travel.”
